1. adapt
合わせる 適応する（させる）
- He adapted to the new environment quickly.
彼は、新しい環境に素早く適応した。
adapt to（～に合わせる）の形で使うよ。こちらから、相手に合わせに行くイメージ。
adjust toも同じように使える（adjust toは微調整する感じだよね）

採用する 養子にする
- adopt a new law
新しい法律を採用する
こちらに取り込むイメージ。取り込むモノによって、採択する、取り入れる、身に着けるなど色々な訳になる。
adaptとスペルは似ているけど、方向性が逆だね。

1. 申し込む apply for/to
- apply for loans / apply to the college
2. 当てはまる 適用する 応用する apply to
- The new rule is applied to imported cars.
その新しい規則は、輸入車に当てはまる（適用される）
※「～に当てはまる」be applied to ~ の形で使おう。
2つの意味を覚えてね。名詞のapplicationは「申し込み書・適用・応用・アプリ」という意味があるよ。

余裕がある
- I can't afford (to buy) a new car.
新しい車を買う余裕がない
お金・時間の余裕がない場合に、I can't afford ~のように使うことが多い。
（形）affordable「お手頃な・安い」←テスト頻出

影響する
- Smoking can affect our health.
喫煙は、健康に影響する
名詞のeffectは have a good(bad) effect on ~のように使う。
- Smoking has a bad effect on our health.
※affectとeffectの使い方、両方とも覚えておこう。

6. allow
許す （発音 アラウ）
- Taking pictures is not allowed here.
ここで写真を撮ることは許されていない
allow 人 to doのような形でも良く使われる。
※allowance （児童手当などの）手当 お小遣い

認める
- I have to admit it.
認めないわけにはいかないね
admit「みっとめる」と覚えよう。
※admission「入学・入場・入場料」 入ることを認めるというイメージだね。

説明 口座 会計 アカウント
カウントなので、「数えて入れる」イメージ。名詞・動詞がある。
動詞はforを伴って使うことが多い。
account for (原因などを）説明する （割合を）占める
- He accounted for the result of his research. （説明する）
- That accounted for the insident. （原因となる）
- The immigrants account for 10% （占める）
